Overview

Nakupuna Federal is seeking a Technical Director Support professional to assist the PMW 760 Technical Director (TD) in executing technical integration, governance, and stakeholder alignment activities across the portfolio. This role serves as a trusted extension of the TD, representing technical intent, translating complex concepts, and ensuring alignment across engineering, program management, and leadership forums.

 

The position operates in a high-visibility environment and requires strong judgement, communication, and the ability to quickly understand and apply technical concepts without serving as a technical authority. The role supports both current program execution and future capability development efforts, including mission and capability mapping across PEO C4I, other Government organizations, and industry.

 

The primary purpose of this role is to support the TD by representing technical intent, translating complex concepts into clear and actionable insights, and ensuring alignment across technical, programmatic, and stakeholder activities.

Responsibilities

Technical Director (TD) Representation

  • Represent the TD in meetings, forums, and working groups when required.
  • Communicate positions clearly and accurately in alignment with TD and Program Manager (PM) intent.
  • Maintain awareness of ongoing initiatives to ensure consistent messaging and representation.

Technical Integration and Translation

  • Develop working understanding of system-level C4I concepts, architectures, and integration challenges.
  • Translate technical issues into clear, decision-ready information for leadership.
  • Bridge communication between engineering, program management, and stakeholder communities.

Engineering Governance Support

  • Support configuration management and engineering governance activities, including Configuration Control Boards and change processes.
  • Track engineering decisions, actions, and impacts across the portfolio.
  • Assist in preparation and coordination of technical review materials.

Capability and Mission Mapping

  • Support development of capability and mission maps aligned to program and fleet needs.
  • Conduct research across PEO C4I, other Government programs, and industry to identify relevant systems and solutions.
  • Analyze how existing and emerging capabilities align to mission requirements.
  • Assist in framing integration opportunities and gaps.

Stakeholder Engagement and Awareness

  • Maintain awareness of PEO C4I organizations, programs, and products.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across Government and contractor teams.
  • Support alignment of efforts across technical and programmatic boundaries.

Proactive Analysis and Problem Solving

  • Identify emerging issues, integration challenges, and alignment gaps.
  • Recommend solutions, options, and perspectives aligned with Technical Director guidance.
  • Anticipate needs and prepare materials or inputs in advance of tasking.

Communication and Documentation

  • Prepare technical summaries, white papers, and briefing materials.
  • Compile inputs from multiple sources into clear and structured products.
  • Ensure materials are accurate, consistent, and aligned to leadership intent.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, technical field, or related discipline preferred.
  • 6 to 12 years of relevant experience supporting DoD programs, technical organizations, or program offices.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in roles requiring coordination, analysis, and communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Prior military experience is highly valued, particularly experience in technical, operational, or integration-focused roles such as: Information Systems Technician (IT), Operations Specialist (OS), Engineering or Combat Systems-related roles.
  • Experience supporting staff-level coordination, technical operations, or program execution
  • Preferred qualifications
    • Experience supporting NAVWAR, PEO C4I or similar DoD program offices
    • Familiarity with C4I systems, architectures, or integration environments
    • Experience with configuration management, engineering governance, or change control processes
    • Experience preparing technical or executive-level briefings
    • Familiarity with capability development, mission analysis, or portfolio integration
    • Existing relationships or familiarity with PEO C4I organizations and stakeholders

Note: Strong aptitude, judgment, and ability to learn technical domains may substitute for formal engineering background.

Certification:

  • No certifications required
  • Relevant certifications or training that may strengthen candidacy include:
    • WarU coursework or familiarity with DoD acquisition processes
    • Entry-level or mid-level project/program management certifications (e.g., CAPM)
    • Relevant technical or systems training is a plus

Clearance Requirements: Active Secret clearance required or ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

Work Location:

  • San Diego, CA
    • Client site: Old Town Complex (OTC), 4301 Pacific Highway / PMW 760 facilities
    • Company site: TBD
  • On-site support required with potential for limited telework as approved

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.

The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $110,000.00 to $145,000.00 (annualized USD). The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
