Overview

Nakupuna Prime is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to support the Army Human Resources Command. This position serves as the Senior Solutions Architect responsible for leading enterprise‑level architecture, modern platform engineering, IT operations automation, and system integration across a complex Army/DoD environment. The incumbent provides technical leadership, develops enterprise architecture artifacts, and ensures secure, scalable, and compliant IT solutions that support mission objectives.

Responsibilities

The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

  • Develop and maintain enterprise architecture artifacts including Interface Control Documents (ICDs), network/data flow diagrams, and system hosting diagrams.
  • Translate operational requirements into logical and physical system designs using DoDAF Systems Viewpoint (SV).
  • Model business processes and map them to SQL and NoSQL data architectures.
  • Architect and oversee implementation of an automated Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  • Apply IT Operations Management (ITOM) principles to maintain real‑time hardware and software inventory.
  • Implement automated discovery tools to ensure accurate asset tracking.
  • Design, secure, and manage applications using modern infrastructure paradigms including Kubernetes and OpenShift.
  • Manage and troubleshoot Linux‑based systems and containerized workloads.
  • Support cloud‑native technologies including microservices, service mesh, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Develop API‑driven integrations to connect enterprise systems.
  • Lead synchronization of the CMDB with the enterprise architecture repository (e.g., Sparx EA) using the Pro Cloud Server REST API.
  • Automate processes to ensure architectural models reflect the deployed environment.
  • Manage code repositories using Git, GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
  • Support Agile development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver iterative, mission‑aligned solutions.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications:  The candidate must be self-motivated, pay close attention to detail, and have good oral and written communication skills. Additional certifications may be required as prescribed by DoDD 8140 (e.g., Network+ CE, Security+ CE, CASP CE).

 

Specialized Experience

Experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Developing enterprise architecture artifacts and system design documentation.
  • Managing or architecting CMDB/ITOM solutions.
  • Designing and supporting Kubernetes or OpenShift environments.
  • Implementing CI/CD pipelines and managing Git‑based repositories.
  • Developing API integrations and automation scripts.
  • Applying DoD cybersecurity and network security practices.

Required Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of:
    • OpenShift
    • Containers (Docker, Podman, etc.)
    • Army/DoD security practices and experience operating on Army or DoD networks
    • CI/CD pipelines and Git‑based code repositories
  • Strong Linux and networking fundamentals
  • Experience with Kubernetes‑based environments
  • Scripting proficiency (Python, PowerShell)
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases

Preferred Skills

  • Sparx Enterprise Architect (EA) experience
  • Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Agile methodology experience
  • TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture certification
  • Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD)
  • Cloud architect certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience in government or defense IT environments
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and best practices

Education and Experience: The following are desirable levels of experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in any technical or managerial discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience desired

Clearance Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance. An interim is required before receiving a formal job offer.

Work Location: Fort Knox, Kentucky. Telework may be authorized once approved by the Government.

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
