Overview

Nakupuna Prime is seeking a Database Administrator to support the Army Human Resources Command. We are actively staffing contingent positions with a start date during the contract transition phase between December 12-26, 2025. The DBA will take responsibility of all facets related to databases including database sustainment, optimization, disaster recovery, and writing and maintaining documentation. The DBA must also develop and apply an in-depth understanding of industry best practice methodologies, policies, standards, and controls in line with database life management phases. 

Responsibilities

The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

  • Provide full spectrum database support for virtual and clustered database servers, including installing, configuring, managing, patching, and monitoring systems
  • Create and maintain data models for production databases
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, query tuning, and storage management to ensure high levels of efficiency and reliability
  • Develop and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to safeguard critical data
  • Perform analysis and remediation of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Manage database security by implementing best practices for user access, permissions, and auditing, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements
  • Proactively monitor database health using tools and scripts
  • Develop scripts and automation processes to streamline database operations, including deployments, backups, and performance monitoring
  • Collaborate with application developers, system administrators, and other key stakeholders to design and optimize database solutions that support business needs
  • Create and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications: The candidate must be self-motivated, pay close attention to detail, and have good oral and written communication skills. They must be independently capable of executing analytical methods and data manipulation and be confident with quantitative analytical methods and technologies, including exposure to relational and non-relational databases. Additional certifications may be required as prescribed by DoDD 8140 (e.g., Network+ CE, Security+ CE, CASP CE).

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting mainframe systems in an enterprise environment desired.

Clearance Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance.

Work Location: Fort Knox, Kentucky. Telework may be authorized once approved by the Government. An interim is required before receiving a formal job offer.

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
