Overview

Nakupuna Consulting is seeking a Technical Writer to support NAVSEA 04 (Industrial Operations). This individual will provide direct support to NAVSEA 04’s mission of getting ships to sea and keeping them ready.

Responsibilities

The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this position.  Management may assign additional duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons. Support the Program Manager and NAVSEA 04:

  • Communicate effectively, deliver high quality documentation free from errors, and communicate effectively;
  • Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology;
  • Reviews and edits material prepared by other writers and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, and content;
  • Assist/lead with preparing briefing material for leadership;
  • Review, format and route correspondence for signature;
  • Input new action items in appropriate tracking system & mark complete the reviewed items via Program Office letters;
  • Locate/retrieve/reproduce and distribute documents;
  • Update tracking systems with information from weekly correspondence update meetings;
  • Provide briefings, presentation materials, analytical reports, concept papers, and critical issue papers for both internal and external use;
  • Design, develop, and produce desktop publishing products and services to effectively communicate command mission and objectives and support SEA 04’s sponsored activities, projects and events;
  • Assist with drafting strategic communications objectives and goals in conjunction with organizational directives as requested.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be familiar with and have experience with the following technical knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of DoD program management, technical, or business management.
  • Experience communicating with SES/Flag level personnel is required.
  • Experience with drafting/coordinating/presenting papers, briefings, and presentations at the Flag Officer/SES level.

 Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical writing or communications, or any technical, or managerial discipline is preferred; Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in technical writing, communications, program management, or business management. 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Navy or DoD is preferred.

Clearance Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a government-issued CAC and possess a Secret clearance.

 

This position requires 5 days a week on site at the Washington Navy Yard. 

 

 Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

 

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.

 The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $72,000.00 to $105,000.00 (annualized USD). The good faith salary range displayed represents the position at time of posting and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
