Overview

Nakupuna Consulting seeks an Information Technology (IT) Equipment Manager with strong critical thinking, analytical and communication skills. The IT Equipment Manager is responsible for developing policies, maintaining oversight, and ensuring effective control and monitoring of IT assets. The candidate requires strict adherence to applicable laws, regulations, organizational policies, and client standards.

Responsibilities

The following reflects management’s definition of key functions for this job and reserves the right to assign additional duties as necessary to meet operational requirements:

  • Ensure all accountable property is accurately reported in the designated asset property system of record.
  • Input, maintain, and update property records to ensure accurate documentation of all IT assets.
  • Maintain a tidy, organized equipment management space (office).
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies/organizations to provide accurate and timely asset management information.
  • Respond to inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
  • Support compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational directives.
  • Understand and maintain proper labeling rules for CUI and classified information and equipment.
  • Properly handle classified equipment such as printers, scanners, computers, telephones.
  • Schedule, conduct, and document property accounting audits in accordance with established policy.
  • Provide agency support for IT asset acquisitions and perform inventory compliance checks to ensure adherence to higher-level directives.
  • Automate equipment management processes or reporting needs using Excel and/or Power BI.
  • Manage the disposal of excess and surplus equipment.
  • Provide basic computer and equipment setup for end-users.
  • Document and track all work using the program approved ticketing system.

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service, including maintaining a positive and responsive attitude in high-stress or time-sensitive situations.
  • Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated adherence to proper procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in technical communication and documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
  • Ability to interpret equipment-related data and present findings to other equipment managers, equipment users, or senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to implement simple task automation to enhance efficiency.
  • Familiarity with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Disposition Services is preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent years of related work or military experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Prior experience supporting DoD IT environments or service in the U.S. military is preferred.
  • CompTIA Security+ CE certification is preferred.

Clearance Requirements: Must currently have an active TS/SCI security clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen.

 

Work Location:

  • Position is based in Arlington, VA. 
  • Must be on-site five (5) days per week. 
  • Occasional travel (1–2 weeks per year) within the Continental U.S. or to Hawaii may be required. 
  • This position may require working outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet operational or project demands. 

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation requirement: 

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers. 
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations. 
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift desktop computers, laptops, and monitors to place at customer workstations or load into a van for destruction.
  • Ability to safely drive a government-owned vehicle for an hour (one-way) to turn in equipment.
