Overview

Nakupuna Consulting is seeking a Training Specialist. The primary function of the Training Specialist is to ensure all aspects related to scheduling, planning, oversight, and delivery of ANA (Administration for Native Americans) training activities are executed in alignment with the ANA Pacific Region Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Center contract. The Training Specialist performs a wide range of duties relating to the management, oversight, and successful completion of training activities and will report to the Regional Director.  

Responsibilities

  • Delivers project planning and development training to support Pacific organizations in developing viable community-based projects that will benefit their Native communities
  • Delivers pre-application training to eligible applicants, focused on preparing and submitting a viable application for funding consideration of an ANA grant award.
  • Delivers post award training to ANA grant recipients to support successful implementation of funded projects and management of grant funds
  • Manages the development of curricula, resources and instructional materials instrumental for supporting both virtual and in-person trainings
  • Oversees staff and consultants who provide support before, during and after trainings.
  • Develops, distributes and analyzes survey assessments to inform improvements made to the delivery of trainings to Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander organization
  • Schedules, coordinates, and manages budgetary considerations related to travel to Guam, the Common Wealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), American Samoa, and inter-island travel within Hawaii, for all training activities
  • Develops, manages, and delivers other in-person and virtual trainings as assigned by the Regional Project Director, to include, but not limited to virtual clinics, webinars and mini-trainings at conferences and meetings
  • Documents training activities and prepares internal and external reports in a timely manner
  • Supports national webinars, TA activities, outreach, merit review of ANA applications and special projects for the Administration for Native Americans Training and Technical Assistance Resource Center as assigned by the Regional Project Director
  • Works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Attends all scheduled team meetings and is prepared to report on the current status of work-related tasks.
  • Attends conference and video calls as required by ANA and the Regional Director
  • Clearly communicates and collaborates, verbally and in writing with team members
  • Able to work flexible hours (weekends/evenings).
  • Performs other duties to support team members as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills and able to engage training participants during 2-3 day virtual and in-person trainings
  • Excellent track record of working independently, thinking innovatively and able to trouble-shoot and resolve issues quickly
  • Experience with using Microsoft Power Point, Excel and Word
  • Able to conduct themselves in a professional and culturally appropriate manner, especially when working in Native communities
  • Must be physically able to travel as needed to deliver trainings in American Samoa, Guam, CNMI and neighboring Hawaiian Islands as well as attend ANA meetings on the U.S. continent, conduct onsite trainings, impact visits to Native American communities outside of the Pacific region, as directed by the Regional Project Director
  • Must have reliable transportation and maintain a current, valid driver’s license and passport
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with implementing Federally funded projects
  • Experience with grant writing
  • Familiar with Canva

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years of relevant work.

Work Location: Work is performed in Honolulu, HI.

 

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation: 

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers. 
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations. 
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer. 

The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market rates commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation rate for this position is $71,000 to $80,000/yr. The salary range displayed represents the typical rate for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
