Overview

The Defense Health Agency Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides high-level advisory and analytical support for readiness support services. The Defense Health Agency SME brings deep domain knowledge and experience in providing healthcare delivery for federal agency civilians, military personnel, retirees, and families. This position will support specific task orders requiring expert insight and is expected to engage directly with senior government stakeholders and integrated project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise in Defense Health Agency support, including delivery of world-class health care to all DoD or other federal agency military or civilian members, retirees, and families.
  • Lead or support the development of policy recommendations, operational strategies, and implementation plans.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform leadership decisions.
  • Support the development of briefings, reports, and written products.
  • Advise Government clients on best practices, program risks, and operational impacts.
  • Participate in working groups and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
  • Provide peer review and quality assurance for technical deliverables.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the following areas:
    • Experience supporting the medically-related readiness for DoD or other federal agency policies, programs, and activities.
    • Experience supporting policy formulation and program oversight of the Military or other federal agency Health System.
    • Experience supporting the delivery of health benefits to service members, civilians, retirees, survivors, and their families.
    • Experience supporting the Joint, integrated Combat Support Agency that enables the Army, Navy, and Air Force or other federal agency medical services to provide a medically ready military or civilian force.
  • Recognized industry, academic, or government leader in their field.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s or doctoral degree preferred.
  • Experience supporting the Department of Defense or federal agencies preferred.

Clearance Requirements: Active Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred or required based on task order.

 

Location: Varies by task order. May include on-site at the Pentagon, Wright-Patterson AFB, or other federal sites. Remote work is possible based on client needs and approval.

 

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
