Overview

Na Ali'i is looking for a Release Train Engineer to lead agile project teams to track and ensure timely, accurate delivery of bi-weekly software deliverables. The ideal candidate will also gather and interpret technical information, build cross-team coalitions, support change management activities, and organize Agile Team outputs.  Additionally, this position will serve in a key leadership role for the entire Agile Release Train.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and Execute ART Processes: Lead program-level events such as PI Planning, System Demonstrations, and Inspect & Adapt workshops and retrospectives; Ensure consistent and effective execution of ART processes.
  • Coach and Guide Teams: Provide Agile/SAFe® guidance to teams; Coach leaders, teams, and Agile Delivery Leads (ADLs) on the processes, practices, and methodologies required to successfully operate in a SAFe® environment.
  • Manage and Optimize Flow of Value: Drive the relentless improvement of the ART. Facilitate flow by evaluating and measuring ART progress, helping to resolve or escalate impediments, and ensuring alignment to the organization’s goals.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate with stakeholders, report on ART progress, escalate impediments, and help manage risks
  • Collaboration Across Teams: Foster collaboration among teams, including the System and Solution Architects/Engineers; Work with Product Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment
  • Continuous Improvement: Encourage and support the teams’ improvement initiatives; Contribute to the advancement of Agile practices
  • Optimize flow: Guide the ART with value-based metrics, coaching teams on applying flow accelerators and effective use of information radiators.
  • Drive relentless improvement: Share insight and finding with the IPPS-A PMO and ART leadership to help guide the organization on acquiring successful outcomes.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and managerial support to Agile Delivery Leads and Business Analysts.
  • Facilitate productive and open communication with ART leadership, stakeholders, and customers while displaying empathy and a high-level of emotional intelligence

Attending to the needs of others, particularly stakeholders and customers, through proactive servant leadership

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Required:  SAFe Release Train Engineer Certification or equivalent
  • Preferred: Agile Leader Certification
  • Experience with supporting an ERP program such as PeopleSoft HCM by applying Agile processes is desired
  • Knowledge working in Azure DevOps.

Excellent technical skills, organizational and planning skills, excellent communication, and problem-solving skills, problem analysis, attention to detail and accuracy, solid judgment and decision-making ability, takes initiative and is adaptable and customer service oriented. Iterative development methodology including Agile/SAFe methods. Conflict resolution and carrying on conversation by focusing on Agile values of openness, honesty, and respect. Demonstrable experience of RTE. Ideally the RTE will have HR, Benefits, Payroll, and Financial Integrations experience.

 

 Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a non-technical related field, or a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology plus 4 years’ relevant experience in technical analysis, design, configuration, implementation, and integration.

 

The following additional experience is also required:

  • Minimum of two (2) IT development programs as RTE
  • 10 or more years of acquired knowledge applying agile processes and tools on multiple large-scale IT-related development programs
  • 5 or more years of acquired knowledge with at least two of the following Agile tools: JIRA, Confluence, Gitlab, Nexus, SonarQube, HP ALM suite
  • 5 or more years of experience coaching and mentoring Agile Scrum teams
  • 5 or more years of experience in planning, managing, and implementing the entire agile software development lifecycle
  • 5 or more years of experience in Federal, Army, DoD, or IC in applying Agile processes and tools
  • Solution Train Engineer or Release Train Engineer experience required

Clearance Requirements: This position requires an active SECRET security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.

 

Work Location: Work location will be hybrid, going 2 days a week onsite in Arlington, Virginia.   

 

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
