Overview

Nakupuna Consulting is looking for a Scrum Master II to coach a dynamic software development team on the Navy Personnel and Pay (NP2) contract, and to track and ensure timely transition of working software to subsequent phases of the SDLC. The ideal candidate will excel at communicating with team members, support change management activities, organize Scrum Team artifacts and ceremonies, be the liaison for the team and stakeholders, check Navy email daily, intracommunication and intercommunication, and be able to identify, minimize, and communicate risks with the ability to formulate a solution by soliciting feedback from other team members, if necessary. This position will support the Agile Manager in coaching the Agile Team.  

Responsibilities

  • Lead 2+ Teams (number of team members or backlog size). 
  • Works with the Scrum Master III and/or Agile Delivery Project Manager in identifying and resolving cross-functional and external issues impacting the team. 
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct Scrum ceremonies (Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives) for a development team 
  • Help the team to remove impediments and resolve conflicts to ensure smooth project progress. 
  • Forecast the numbers of deliverables possible in an iteration, based on evidence and reliable source; estimation and planning capabilities should demonstrate an intermediate level of expertise for creating useful, reliable, and practical plans for software development projects. 
  • Drive technical excellence by assessing solutions and practices to guide engineering teams on quality, architecture, automation, and DevOps; assist in writing and updating technical documentation and be an active participant in architecture, design, and code reviews. 
  • Support the development team in maintaining a high level of collaboration and communication. 
  • Foster a positive team environment and encourage continuous improvement practices. 
  • Track and report on key metrics and progress, ensuring transparency and accountability. 
  • Prepare and maintain Agile development artifacts (e.g., Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog, and help prepare the Product increment). 
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the team understands the product vision and requirements.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications:  

  • Proficient understanding of Agile methodologies and Scrum framework. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities. 
  • A proactive and problem-solving mindset. 
  • Works collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. 
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in the role. 

Education and Experience:   

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years of experience working the federal government, DoD, and /or private sector preferred. PeopleSoft, Workday, or other ERP experience a plus. 
  • Certifications in CSM or PSM and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) are required. 
  • Jira and Confluence experience is required. 
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills 

Clearance: A background investigation at the T3 level is required, as this is not currently a classified position. Must be a U.S. citizen. 

Work Location: Work location will be in Arlington, Virginia 2 days on-site with a hybrid option. 

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation: 

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers. 
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations. 
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
