Overview

Nakupuna Consulting seeks a Data Analyst to join our team of talented consultants providing professional services to a customer within the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). The ideal candidate should be familiar with the military hierarchy and organization, have strong oral and written communication skills, understand contract structures and be able to find solutions quickly to contractual. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate and collaborate across various acquisition disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Support the client by analyzing acquisition data and producing reports to inform decisions.
  • Provide applicable acquisition reports on acquisition data to analyze timelines, performance, statistics, workload balancing, trend analysis, and forecasting.
  • Successful management of acquisitions and requirements through the organization’s management tool or management system. Manage, schedule, training, assign, report, and track (e.g. Dashboards, Calendar Invites, etc.) the organization’s acquisition packages using the applicable organizational operating instructions, training and instructions.
  • Present findings or translate the acquisition data into useable formats by applying critical thinking. Findings will become part of government dashboard/briefings to support compliance findings, inspections, leadership decision making, and customer expectation management.
  • Maintain and collect acquisition data using different tools and statistical techniques such as MS SQL queries from various databases, such as but not limited to MS Excel, MS Access, SharePoint and data management systems to provide accurate and reliable administrative reports, presentations and dashboards.
  • Advise and assist in establishing useful acquisition data collections from existing systems.
  • Apply sound strategies for obtaining quality acquisition data from different sources, integrating, and developing actionable information to support quantitative analysis.
  • Retrieve contracts data from various government sources and manipulate the data for informed management decisions.
  • Prepare applicable acquisition reports and acquisition briefs on an as needed basis.
  • Assist in the design of processes, tools, or databases to ensure an effective and efficient way to manage the portfolio.
  • Assist client in developing and maintaining a master task order list for tracking and staffing of contracts and agreements.
  • Build dashboards and data visualizations to support tracking and reporting of data.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and 5+ years of relevant professional experience in data analysis.
  • The ideal candidate will have served two years in an acquisition environment within DoD, such as a Program Executive Office (PEO) or acquisition directorate, such as ASA(ALT) or ASN(RDA).
  • Demonstrated experience with DoD is required. Experience with OSD is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the acquisition process is required.

Skills/Qualifications: 

  • A background commensurate with the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Professional Certification standard for contracting.
  • Excellent technical skills, analytical, organizational and planning skills, communication, and problem-solving skills, problem analysis, attention to detail and accuracy, solid judgment and decision-making ability, ability to take initiative, be adaptable and customer service oriented. Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities with minimum direction and supervision. Specifically, the ideal candidate will be familiar with, and have experience with the following technical knowledge, skills, and abilities:
    • Experience working with large datasets or databases, especially in Excel (including pivot tables)
    • Strong quantitative ability and a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
    • Understanding of writing syntax and using statistics and data analysis tools such as SPSS or Stata, R, Tableau, Qlik Sense, Power BI, R Statistical Programming and Methods, Oracle or MS SQL Integration.
    • Ability to learn to write/ modify code using the tools above.
    • Experience in data visualization and dashboard creation. 

Location: Onsite at the Pentagon.

 

Clearance Requirements: This position requires an active Secret security clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen.

 

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
