Overview

Nakupuna Consulting is looking for a Systems Administrator. The Systems Administrator will be primarily responsible for system administration of Windows Servers (version 2022), hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud environment. The system administrator will work with an IT Operations team consisting of 5-7 system administrators, network administrators, and database administrators to provide support and expertise for the management and administration of a general COTS-based systems, including the customers Case Management System.  This operations team will work together to ensure compliance of current and planned system architectures to prevent any adverse impact on DoDIN security posture.

Responsibilities

  • Builds, optimizes, and manages Windows 2022 servers in an AWS GovCloud environment.
  • Performs regular operational tasks in the AWS Console including creating new EC2 instances, debugging connectivity, provisioning users, managing credentials, configuring backup policies, and reviewing logs.
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Completes software and system updates/upgrades.
  • Performs system security hardening per DoD Security and Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) and providing required security documentation.
  • Provides STIG guidance and assist in configuring computer and network devices. 
  • Supports IAVA patching requirements for servers and systems under management.
  • Develops and maintains system/application documentation, to include Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provides tier two technical support and troubleshooting assistance for commercial-off the-shelf (COTS) products (such as:  Documentum xCP, Qlik, and StarLIMS).
  • Supports DevSecOps implementation and team integration including automated testing, release pipelines, automated deployment, with AWS CodePipeline and its related components.
  • Conducts daily checks of assigned servers.
  • Performs regular maintenance of servers including Windows and application patching.
  • Provide weekly data audit/reconciliation and reporting.
  • Perform upgrades to server operating systems and applications.
  • Assist USG technicians to maintain existing AWS Gov Cloud installation.
  • Configure and maintain SolarWinds server to support network monitoring.
  • Assist assigned technicians to manage interconnectivity issues content posted to MS SharePoint.
  • Works within a customer-owned ticketing system to document, triage, delegate, and document tasks. 
  • Assists with weekly and monthly reporting on administration and maintenance activities.
  • Recommends and advises changes discovered through data analysis.
  • Reconciles AD, SCCM, ACAS, ESS, DPASS.
  • Supports multiple time zones (East Coast through Hawaii) and is flexible with schedule. 
  • Works within a SCIF environment.

Qualifications

Other Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience with design and development of high availability virtual platforms.
  • In-depth performance monitoring of virtual system(s).
  • Must excel at system documentation, to include in-depth system configuration, topology, and development of standard operating procedures.
  • Self-Motivated and Self-Monitoring, Exceptional Oral and Written Communications, Technical Communication, Problem Solving, and ability for multi-tasking.

Education/Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in a technical major from an accredited institution as well as a minimum of (4) four years of relevant professional experience.  Equivalent years of related work or military experience in lieu of degree will also be considered. 

Nice to have: 

  • Experience working DoD, government

Certification:

Required:

  • IAT II (CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP)
  • Operating system (OS) certification  

Nice to have: 

  • Microsoft SQL Server certification
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) certification

Clearance Requirements: This position requires a TS/SCI Security Clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen.

 

Location:  Arlington, VA.  On-site 80%
