Overview

Nakupuna Consulting is seeking an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Network Administrator. This position is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining network infrastructure solutions within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Secure Cloud Computing Architecture (SCCA).  This role involves configuring and optimizing AWS networking services to ensure high availability, reliability, and security of network resources. The AWS Network Administrator collaborates with cross-functional teams to support business requirements and drive the adoption of best practices for network architecture and operations in the AWS cloud.

Responsibilities

AWS Network Design and Implementation:

  • Design, deploy, and manage AWS networking components such as Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), subnets, route tables, network access control lists (ACLs), and security groups.
  • Configure and maintain VPN connections, Direct Connect, and other network connectivity solutions in AWS.
  • Configure, maintain, and monitor AWS Transit Gateways to facilitate inter-VPC communication and connectivity.

Network Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce network security best practices in AWS environments, including firewall rules, encryption, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
  • Configure, maintain, and monitor AWS Virtual Cisco Cloud Services Routers (CSR) for routing within AWS environments.
  • Configure, maintain, and monitor TACACS (Terminal Access Controller Access-Control System) and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for network authentication and authorization.

Device Configuration and Maintenance:

  • Configure, maintain, and monitor Cisco routers, and firewalls within the network enclave.
  • Support system operations and maintenance, including deploying patches, managing network devices, and upgrading software/firmware.

Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) Systems:

  • Configure, maintain, and monitor systems including Voice over IP (VoIP), Video Teleconferencing (VTC), and Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).

Network Integration and Coordination:

  • Contribute to the coordination of network integration tasks with other IT teams and stakeholders.

Cybersecurity Readiness:

  • Ensure all virtual and physical devices within the network infrastructure maintain cybersecurity readiness.
  • Implement and manage Intrusion Detection and Prevention Services (IDS/IPS) to protect against security threats.

Additional Network Services:

  • Support KIV-7M encryption devices to secure communications.
  • Implement and manage Virtual Datacenter Management Services (VDMS) and Virtual Data Center Security Stack (VDSS) to enhance network security and performance.
  • Configure and manage Out of Band Management (OOBM) for Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) to enable separate management access.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a technical major from an accredited institution as well as a minimum of (4) four years of relevant professional experience.  Equivalent years of related work or military experience in lieu of degree will also be considered. 

 

Skills/Qualifications:

This position requires a professional certification in compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II which may include Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Security, CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+), CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or CompTIA Security+.  Moreover, candidates who possess one or more of the following credentials would be preferred:

  • CCNA
  • CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate
  • AWS Certified Advanced Networking

Clearance Requirement: Must currently hold an active Secret level of security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen. 

 

Physical Requirements: In addition to the skills and qualifications mentioned above, candidates must, at a minimum, be able to meet the following physical requirements.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to use stairs without assistance
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer

The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $94,500.00 to $123,500.00 (annualized USD). The good faith salary range displayed represents the position at time of posting and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
