Overview

Nakupuna Consulting is seeking a Configuration Manager to provide database management, status accounting, and deployment oversight supporting the execution of a large size, multi-year contract to the Integrated Personnel and Pay System – Army (IPPS-A) Army Military Payroll (AMP). Nakupuna Consulting is extending contingent offers for this effort in anticipation of contract award, which is expected in May of 2024. The Configuration Manager will be responsible for the execution of software updates and changes and will support the general success of software deployments. The Configuration Manager will organize and draft various configuration management procedures to provide effective safeguards and processes for the AMP program. Collaboration with the numerous Agile Teams across the AMP program will be routine in this position. The Configuration Manager will also coordinate with other upper-level managers such as the Release Manager, high-level Business Analysts, and the Program Manager. This communication will include providing excellently written reports and participating in meetings with and without the Army client. The Configuration Manager should serve as a positive mentor for junior employees, coaching team members as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring changes to software and systems are controlled and executed properly with appropriate approvals and documentation demonstrating compliance.
  • Support releases, patches, and other migrations of software and will track and monitor these events to maintain current status on all environments.
  • Work alongside the Release Manager to ensure communication of change to downstream parties.
  • Support configuration identification by maintaining a database that documents all software and hardware.
  • Support deployment events that allow Government personnel to decide when and if new software and hardware releases are to be implemented for AMP.
  • Perform status accounting by recording and reporting the status of all AMP related software and hardware. Status accounting shall include record of purchase, number of licenses, when licenses must be updated, projected costs when updated, number of licenses implemented, and where those licenses have been implemented.
  • Facilitate communications with all software and hardware stakeholders to ensure software and hardware actions efficiently and effectively enhance AMP’s overall goals.
  • Ensure all significant software and hardware defects are tracked and documented.
  • Maintain and update CM policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Identify and maintain the original configuration of requirements documentation, design documentation, software, and related documentation.
  • Train personnel on proper configuration management processes and practices.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience within the federal government, DoD, Army, or IC and/or private sector preferred. PeopleSoft, Workday, or other ERP experience a plus. 

 

Skills/Qualifications: Certifications in SAFe DevOps and IAM Level I preferred.

 

Clearance Requirements: This position requires a current Secret clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen.

 

Travel Requirements: Infrequent travel may be required.

 

Work Location: Work location will be in the D.C., Maryland, Virginia region.

 

Physical Requirements: In addition to the skills and qualifications mentioned above, candidates must, at a minimum, be able to meet the following physical requirements.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to use stairs without assistance
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, lift, carry, reach, kneel, crouch, bend and climb a step stool/ladder
